Thanked: 603Wade & Butcher "Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor"
Back in 2006, I bought a few lots of "naked" blades on eBay -- among them, a goodly number of wedges, running from 9/16 to 7/8 (the majority being 5/8). A couple of years later, I bought some clear, plexiglass scales from a fellow SRP member (hat-tip to Soopercat). Although this particular blade was cleaned-up in 2009, it lay there with the others, wrapped in paper towel, and it wasn't until today that I honed-and-mated it with a pair of those scales. Here is a photo (I'll shave with it later this evening, and post on the current SOTD thread).
This one is a 5/8" blade, with a barber's notch and a wry smile; and, although stamped "Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor" on the spine, it's most definitely a near-wedge grind. Sadly, I never took any "before" photos

Looks classy. I really like the way the scales highlight the beautiful blade while looking formal themselves.

Thanked: 603Thanks, guys! As I wrote, the scales are the handiwork of Soopercat, another SRP member. As much as I liked them when he sent them to me, I couldn't imagine how they'd look "dressing" a shiny piece of sharp Sheffield steel. They're clean, functional, and like a bespoke suit, show-off what's "inside" them.
Smooth shaving!

Thanked: 1072Very nice, I've been thinking about doing some clear scales myself. They really do look cool on a nice blade like that.
