Oxford Goes back On The Line.
Here is the first razor that I found on my own last year in an antique store.
It is an Oxford, from Germania Cutlery Works in Germany.
I was the first time I ever tried to clean a razor. I broke the original scales by sliding a Q-tip between them. Stupid is, as stupid does; I believe the saying is. I put her away until the other day.
I rescaled her in Snake Wood, I got a few scrap pieces from a wood store. The most difficult wood for me , so far. Maple spacer (I can't make wedges worth a da*n). The pivot hole was large, so a brass sleeve was used. Brass washers, silver nickel rod & brass spacers. The wood was sanded to 2000, Mylands Wood Polish, then a coat of Renaissance Wax.
I read that Snake Wood repels water pretty good & would not need to be sealed. I hope that's right.
She will go in my travel kit, after I shave with her tomorrow.
Thanks for your time.
