Oxford Goes back On The Line.
Here is the first razor that I found on my own last year in an antique store.
It is an Oxford, from Germania Cutlery Works in Germany.
I was the first time I ever tried to clean a razor. I broke the original scales by sliding a Q-tip between them. Stupid is, as stupid does; I believe the saying is. I put her away until the other day.
I rescaled her in Snake Wood, I got a few scrap pieces from a wood store. The most difficult wood for me , so far. Maple spacer (I can't make wedges worth a da*n). The pivot hole was large, so a brass sleeve was used. Brass washers, silver nickel rod & brass spacers. The wood was sanded to 2000, Mylands Wood Polish, then a coat of Renaissance Wax.
I read that Snake Wood repels water pretty good & would not need to be sealed. I hope that's right.
She will go in my travel kit, after I shave with her tomorrow.
Thanks for your time.

Nice work. For a pair of spalted maple scales on a Bill Ellis I used to have he recommended Renaissance Wax to protect from moisture. Stuff is really great. Robert Williams likes it on the steel to protect it as well.

Most people see monsters in their nightmares; I see floating wedges.

Nice work, Hirlau! I don't make scales myself, but did make a lead wedge once! It finally turned out, but I think I will stick to recycling old ones!
Great job, Brother!
Tom"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
