Trust your instincts and go with a less wedgie wedge. When you mock up the razor start with the wedge end. If the space between the pivot ends is too great start over with a new wedge.
Bone saws very nicely, use a coping saw for the profile and a fine toothed hack saw to trim for thickness and to start the wedge. Once the bone for the wedge is attached to scrap wood clamp the wood in a vice and saw off most of the waste bone.
