Interesting origin on that one. Drongo was the name of 1920's race horse that failed to win a race after 30 or 40 starts. Ironically he was good enough to run in 2 Melbourne cups & ran for 2nd & 3rd places in some high stakes races. Just never a winner . Originally Posted by Hirlau

John, it wasn't meant as an insult, but with the cultural differences, it could easily be construed that way. Certainly it isn't something you would say to a friend without a smile on your face. I've been called a Drongo many a time by my own mother when I stuffed up as a kid, but the tone of voice when she said it, wasn't an insult, and that is something that just doesn't come across in the world of internet. And I am sure the tone in which Monkey would have said it, would also have had a smile included
.
