Go to the top of the page, type in local help in the search box, click on the first thread shown. A list of mentor help around the world pops up. They can help or direct you appropriately.
Perhaps mickr or jimbo will see this and chime in.....
G'Day Elrook RickyBeeroun222 or I could maybe help.
Send me a PM to arrange it.
Yep. Geoff and Ricky are your closest go to blokes for that. Stu (str8raz0r) also, but I haven't seen him around the general forum too much. I think he hangs out in the workshop forum a bit.

Can anyone tell me if there are any members in Toowoomba, Qld, Au.
Onimaru from any questions on honing in Oz. I've no doubt others know their way around a blade & stone, but I suspect Onimaru has forgotten more than I know. I'm not savvy on how far Brisbane is from him, but its a connection I'd recommend.
Well it's a long drive or a plane ride, but thankfully australia post still operates. I would have no hesitation in recommending oz he is a top bloke. When I was starting out he was really helpful and free with advice, 3 gen if it was of no benefit to him. If I am ever over that way I would like to arrange a meet up, in fact I have people in most large Australian cities I would like to meet, except Alice and darwin, haven't seen any members from either.
I live in Toowoomba, 1.5 hrs from Brisbane CBD
Maybe shoot a PM to andrewjm, he organises meetups pretty regularly so would know who is where and might be able to point you at someone.
Sorry i cant be of more help.
No official meetup date planned, but there seems to be a bit of interest from a couple of people to tryout some woodworking tools I have (lathe, band saw, scroll saw and bench belt sander) and a mini grinder. I have a couple of hones you can try yourself if you want... My first proper attempt I got a shave ready razor. Happy to show you how I did it and you can use yourself... Chosera 1k for bevel set, Norton 4/8K to bring to shave ready, and an escher if you want to try as a finisher, plus I have a coticule.
The others coming would be better at honing than me... anyone here is welcome to use my gear or bring their own as well if they wish...
Hoping when we meet to knock out a few scales, a brush handle or 2, and can play with the hones when others are on the power tools.
Depending on when we meet, we may also do a session of wood stabilisation (Im waiting for a vacuum canister setup)
Havachat knows lots about honing, not sure if he is wanting to come or not... we haven't even started proposing dates yet. Im sure AdamG would be happy to share his expertise as well.
If you just want to try the hones, I'm available anytime with notice. I live in West End.
Also, I have a wedding at Laidely 1st November, will be getting a motel room at Hattonvale, if that is near you I can bring some hones for you to borrow if you want to pickup Sat early arvo and return before I leave Sunday morning so you can get some experience on the Sat night.
Its a shame Os, gssixgun or Lynn don't live in the local area :(
I tend to make trips up your way a bit. If it's nothing urgent, next time I'm heading that way I can pay a visit with my basic hones and give you a run down on what to do. Get Ed to shoot me an email if that plans of any use to you. I check my email everyday, but I'm not always on the forum. I can make a special trip for you if needs be, providing the timing works with my free days.

Thanks for the help everyone you've all been great ill be sure to PM a few of you for help after my exams :p
It's still a little while away but I'll be on the Sunshine Coast at the end of Feb next year.
Nice one guys, sorted.
I think your best bet is to look around south east qld. Specifically Brisbane and surrounds. I know you'd like some one on one help but unless you are able to travel to someone, our are prepared to wait for them to travel to you, I don't think you'll have a lot of luck in toowoomba, but I could be wrong.
Better off sending it out for honing so you can get shaving, then think about learning to hone.
Good luck.
James.
Yeah there's nothing in Toowoomba. Not even the old barbers here hone anymore. Bris isn't far. I'll head that way and try. Thanks Jimbo
I'm now settled in on the Sunshine Coast (Palmwoods) if that's any use to anyone.
I called King Of Knives, the chain knife shop found in many large shopping centres. The Carindale store will hone a razor for $15 (it's honed off-site by a pro).
I'd just check with them again to make sure they do have someone - I used to do it for them but contacted them to let them know I couldn't anymore about 2 or 3 weeks back now. I don't know how long ago you talked to them - if it was recent it sounds like they've found someone already, which is good. But if it was a few weeks ago, you may be out of luck.
James.
This link will let you zero in on locals.

Good to know. It was last week that I spoke to them, however the girl whom I was dealing with did seem unsure at first and needed to consult a list which didn't appear to be new. I will give them another call tomorrow and confirm that they have a new contact.
With all that said, I have done a little legwork lately and asked a few ShaverShops whom they use to hone SR's. The names that I was given (by several stores) were:
- Ron at Super Sharp Sharpening - $20 per blade (email contact@supersharpsharpening dot com dot au).
- Oz Parker - price unknown (ozzzz@tpg dot com dot au).
