Fires
Crazy how many fires there are, the size of them & how long they've been burning.
We're a good hours drive from the Currowan fire yet the mornings still look like this till the breeze changes direction.
Princes Highway opened up again last week so at least we're getting fuel & other deliveries thru. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 3228The situation in OZ is absolutely horrible from what I have been reading wrt the brush fires and drought. Must be your worst brush fire season ever or pretty close to it. They also announced on the TV today that the highest ever recorded temperature may happen shortly. I really hope you stay safe and OZ catches some breaks to bring the fires under control soonest.

Cheers Bob. I'm lucky to be untouched so far. Fingers X'd it stays so.
I think worst is relative to how close the fires get to your house. We've had bad ones before but hardly on this scale. It's like nearly every state has multiple fires. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 4830We have had some bad ones in BC, and it seems like are fire seasons are opposite, so when things ramp up in either country, our firefighters migrate with the seasons. Right now all the Canadian wild fire firefighters are in Oz, when it is mid summer here and thing are slower in Oz, the Ozzy guys will all be here. It’s a great arrangement, but unfortunate at the same time. I always feel bad for the animals. So much habitat being destroyed.

Yeah the global help is appreciated both ways I'm sure. I think some animals probably move ahead of time but not all. Seems to be concern re koala deaths due to fires.

Thanked: 4830Everyone is always concerned about the cute animals. Everything is so connected in nature, it’s hard to fathom what the loss of one element in an eco system can do. Some of the lost habitat takes so long to regenerate and it leaves me wondering what inhabitants do for the next 50 years or more, while it is being regained.
It’s great that the firefighters can slip back and forth between the different countries. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!
