Thread: is this the beginning of the end of cheap eBaying for Aussies?

Well that past 12 months has been fun on eBay with the Australian doller over the US doller but over the last few days I have noticed that our doller has been going down (or the US doller is going back up)

So is this the beginning of the end of our cheap eBaying or is the just temporary...

1 Australian dollar = 0.9705 U.S. dollars

I really dont want to pay 80c or less to the USD again but If it is ending now it was fun while it lasted...

Don't worry, our political leaders .... both sides ..... will keep the US economy in the ditch.

The USPO jacked up pricing on freight to Australia (specifically, not just freight in general) some time ago when they saw how much was being spent from here. Cost me access to several sources of hard to get computer parts. Cheap parts plus ridiculous freight equals me spend money elsewhere.

Cant say I like this, but sadly it is true.

Sad , but true. won't see any chg till aug/sept next year because of the elections.

I'm worried if the AUD is dropping now (or everyone else is going up) and then we get this new carbon tax in 2012 whats going to happen then!

No more or less than any other tax introduced by any other party for any other reason. The same debate, as well as round after round of viscious political bigotry, surfaces every time any party tries to introduce tax change of any kind. The economy will adapt the same as it always has. What happens during that adaptation process will be mostly fluff and bluster by one group or another trying to blame xyz on their politcal opponent of choice but will in reality have nothing to do with anything.

Remember the Grand Scale Theivery which we were never going to have.....mmmmmmmmmm?

I think, logically, it ( the AU) should be worth quite a bit more than the US, considering their debt woes. However, I guess we're very much linked to (i.e. in an all eggs in the basket kind of way) the China economy, which is slowing. I'm happy the Euro seems to be down against the AU dollar a bit. It certainly sucked when we were, like, 60c or whatever it was. Observant readers will note I used the word 'logical' when making reference to the markets, which is, of course, illogical...
