A little help from my friends
Check out the line of Wolverine 1000 Mile boots. Most are made in the USA of fine Horween leather. I bought a pair about 6 months ago and love them. They are the best boots I have ever owned. I used to be a Doc Marten man, but the outsource to China changed that.

About 15 years ago I bought a pair of Dr. Martens from Nordstrom's when they were still made in England. Wore those shoes to work every day for 9 years straight. I have bad ankles so I wear the outside of my shoeheels unevenly. These were just starting to do that so I went back to Nordstrom's to buy another pair. They were basically the same style with the same price as they were 9 years previous, but they were now made in China. To the salesman's credit, he told me that they were nothing like the ones made in England and that if I bought them, I would be very unhappy. Of course I didn't buy them.
You can still get the Made in England ones online or boutique shops.
Place by me carries both (special order). I will say though, tack on an extra $100 for the made in England's.

The funny thing is when the temps get in to the 60's F, the so called winter time girls will be wearing these boots around in Hawaii. I reckon it is more for fashion than function. Just go to a shopping mall sheepskin boots will be everywhere. Current temp at my location 39 degrees F, coldest so far 11 degrees F.
