This doesn't quite qualify for me as a finer thing in life but more so for my clients.
Some of you may know I am a wood carver. Here is a project that has eaten up 4 months of my life.
I was commissioned to carve two different size mouldings for some custom made Mahogany doors for a home on Park Ave. NY.
One strip was 3/4 inch wide and took 16 leaves per foot. The total length was 684 ft long which ended up getting approx. 10,984 leaves carved on it.
The second strip being 3/8 " took roughly 33 leaves per foot and being 501 ft long ate up 16,533 leaves.
I made a special vise to hold the strips of mldg. and aluminum templates to facilitate the transfer of patterns.
Here are a few shots showing what I did.
The two strips combine to make the moulding but I wasn't responsible for making the white paper design that links them together.
All for some door trim. Must be nice!
