    Default William Wallace's Sword

William Wallace sword returns to the National Wallace Monument after period in secret storage.

The sword is Claymore and is 5', 8" long and weighed 6 lbs, quite the blade to wield during battle for a few hours, or a couple of days as some battles went.

Here is the story of the return of the sword:

Edward I (Longshanks) and William Wallace were both giants of their time, Edward was 6'2" and Wallace was 6'7", put those dudes in full armor with swords like that and I'd imagine they'd make quite the terrifying sight...imagining that, I can only think of the Monty Python line, "...Run Away! Run Away....!"

Here's a bit more about William Wallace, some interesting pics, and some of the myths.

I would have expected it to be heavier, though it is probably good that it isnt
