Waterproof Hiking/Walking Shoe recommendations?

I live in northern MN where we can have snowy slushy weather sometimes up to 9 months of the year.

I walk 3-4+ miles nearly every day for exercise during my lunch hour. I'm looking for feedback from anyone who would recommend a waterproof hiking shoe or chukka they like. I don't want a boot; something more shoe like since I speed walk. Clunky boot wouldn't be what I'm looking for. To date, I've just used a Brooks walking shoe which isn't working in the snow since they're in no way waterproof..... Having a good tread for snow is a must too.

Any ideas (other than moving to a more moderate clime?)......

Have you looked at trail running shoes? I know Brooks and Saucony have winter versions of some of their popular trail running shoes. I think they have Gore-Tex lining which makes them somewhat waterproof. Then there is this one from Salomon...

I run all year round in trail running shoes. If there is a wet snow I'm resigned to running with wet feet. However, we don't get nearly as much snow as Minnesota and the last couple of winters have been pretty dry.

Also, I have read nice things about the Merrell Chameleon, which seems to be a cross between a hiking boot and a running shoe.

I've had nothing but great luck with Merrell shoes and boots.
I pretty much wear them exclusively.

I currently have a couple hundred miles on my Oboz and they still hold up very well. The soles are firm enough to offer great support both up and down hill. My Merrells fell apart after approx 100 miles. The toe caps came apart . Also, Solomon offers a great shoe.

Any approach shoe with Gore-Tex would work, just have to find what fits you beast. I like The North Face with Vibram Soles.
