Gotta love it, that's how I felt when I got some mercury dimes in my change. Don't know their value now, but they were worth $1.20 each back then

My oldest daughter is a cosmetologist and she'd worked in other peoples hair shops with her own station which made her self employed but she did have to pay rent for her station.

When her last business's owner decided to retire and close the shop she and her husband did some soul searching and they decided that they would convert their attached garage into a Salon for her.

Once it was done it was as nice or nicer that anything else in town.

The shop was to open at 10am and I told my daughter that I wanted to be her first 'Paying' Customer. She said "Dad, I don't and I won't charge you to cut your hair". But I insisted. So on the Grand Opening Day I arrived at 9:45 am. My daughter showed me that the trash basket was empty of anyone's hair.

After cutting my hair I reached inside my shirt and pulled out a small wrapped package and handed it to her. She asked what it was and I told her that it was her payment for cutting my hair.

When she opened the package she found a framed American Dollar--an 1883 Silver Dollar. The very first dollar she earned in her own business.

She thanked me very much but asked if she could paint the frame to match the decor of her shop and I of course said yes.

I had gotten the idea from my father. He'd saved a $2.00 Silver Certificate Bill from his very first Navy Pay. He had it stored in his Cruise Book from the USS Valley Forge 45. After his death we found that someone had taken that bill. I hope whoever took it rots in Hell.

    Very true.

I got 2 silver quarters I believe they were in the change I got when buying lunch in middle school. My wife would find old coins when she worked at a gas station. Someone paid with a old Indian Head penny
