I find I go through more of the 1k dry true, but it’s easier/faster to wipe off dry and see if I’m flat yet. I’ll use the higher grits wet, once I know I’m at a level base. Seems less messy overall.
And yup, thanks Ness, I will step up through the grits instead of just jumping to the 3k.
That 3D stuff smells really pleasant and worked very well on the dash, can’t wait to see what it does to the car panels.

Yes wet sanding makes a mess….after I wet sand a section,I have a small 3M rubber spreader ,that I use to wipe the water away..then take my blow gun to air dry and see where Iam at.

Are you using a block with the 1K paper ? You should.
-
Using my da and a sponge pad, hard block you say?
Thought the soft pad would blend things better.
-
Soft pad is fine…as long as your not using a bare hand.

Gone as close to the edges and as down as far as I can with the da, tomorrow switch to block and hand paper for along the edges.

And for fun I hit it with the first stage 3d, just to see what it’d do to those shiny dimples.

Stuff ain’t bad but it won’t take out irregularities, didn’t really expect it to but had to check.
A ways to go still.
Cheers.

This time, I don’t mind the work, very enjoyable at this stage, making everything as shiny as I can before it all goes together.

Blended repairs all but disappeared happily. I can live with the few imperfections, this was a home garage paint job after all.

And you can just spot the new chrome Bluetooth speakers behind the seat, which sound really good in the garage, tbd on the open road. They are rated to be heard on a Harley, fwtw..

This is the finish, after the 2 compounds and ready for final assembly.
I will buff and wax everything again once she’s all together.
Now to mount the tank and lines, maybe get some gas in the ole girl..
