Good one Pete!
The gent did tell me she’s got a lovely low rumble now,, also mentioned they had to redo the pipe over the rear axle twice to get the sweep they wanted as well as keep it up tight to the frame rails.
I appreciate their desire to make her a clean install even though I will cringe at the price..
I don’t begrudge it, they totally earn it, but I just think of all the parts I can buy with that labour charge and go a little red inside, hehe.
The exhaust work will be 25% of the original cost of the car… course I’ve prolly put twice the original price back into her now so it’s all relative.
And just about firmed up the tranny deal out west so yeah, I’ll be doing a little more this winter.
Gonna check my rear gearing as it’s likely 4.55:1, and I could get down to 3.9:1 with the right r and p..
Weighing it all out..
Cheers.
Lovely low rumble.....
Put a 3:08 posi in the rear ….good Highway gear
His words, which of course does imply some tone still so I do hope it is in fact more of a low, than a rumble, but will find out tomorrow.
On another note, amazing what you find when you really get into the corners cleaning up.
Found the spare keys to the ammo safe, and the actually keys to lock my rolling tool box. New, unopened Wenger Swiss pocket knife, and a couple of the kids report cards from grade school.
Memory lane is quite dusty…
:)
See, that is something I never get to enjoy in my home living as clean and organized as we do. I can never be surprised by finding something hidden in a dusty corner.
Hoping you get the sound you want from the exhaust. When I was a kid I did exhaust for a while. Enjoyed bending pipe. Nowadays they just bolt stuff on. When they have to make it, it cost a lot more. Just the opposite back then. It was cheaper and thicker when bent by hand from the tubing.

You need to let your hair down! Throw some dirt on the floor, clutter up the kitchen, and chill out! You'll live longer!
Hell yeah! Oh but that rolling pin HURTS! :D
Got her back, vid to follow.
At cruise, much quieter as the muffler is twice the size of the thrush. Start up and idle, definitely lower rumble less tinny sounding.
Punch it at speed and she’s loud still, but lower. Not sure if any muffler is quiet enough when you punch it, or even should be really, hell, you are punching it!
Install wise I like it, original style hangers, all welded to the frame and exhaust, then the whole shabang repainted black. Removed all that old brass petcock fuel bypass stuff for me, and cut a bit of the new frame I made as required to really make a nice install. Sits maybe an inch lower than my oil pan now and I can live with that..
Gonna take the misses out for supper to get her opinions.
Then maybe in The Weeknd get some footage.
Cheers gents.
