While vintage carousels may not be everyone's idea of one of the finer things in life, all ages can appreciate the aesthetic appeal of them. Locally, we have had the privilege of enjoying a vintage carousel since it was purchased by the city in 1934 and set up outdoors at Chippewa Park. It was built by W C Parker Company in 1915. It is one of only three of it's kind left in the world.
Considering it is outdoors and the climate we have, it has had a lot of wear and tear over the years. A decision was made on the parks 100th anniversary to do a complete restoration. This has been ongoing for a number of years and involves some local carvers as well as others. Kind of amazing and lucky to find local talent capable of doing this work.
