There are quite a few people out there who specialize in vintage watches. A repair like that isn't that expensive. Actually they make new mainsprings in all sizes so you could probably get one to fit.

I changed from a Seiko Kinetic to a Citizen Ecodrive when one of the knobs fell off the Seiko. Sadly most watch shops would laugh at you for seeking a repair nowadays. :(
I like the Citizen. No nonsense, needs no attention ever*, tells the time, comfortable, looks OK anywhere IMO.

The Othello is nice and thin :)

My daily wear, I'm on the hunt for a Seadweller now...

Maybe the watch aficionados can answer this one. What is the advantage of the oversize watches that some of the race drivers and other celebrity types are wearing?
When I first saw the one Eddie Jordan (F1) had on his wrist I thought he needed it because of some unmentioned visual impairment.
I noticed Jenson Button wearing something about the same size at the Autosport show. Looked like an alarm clock with a wrist-strap.
Styles change. Right now you will find it difficult to find a new watch less than 40mm in diameter. Watches 43-46mm are pretty commonplace. They even make em at 50mm and then some.
Really the size watch you can wear depends on your wrist size. When I see some guy with a 6.5 inch wrist wearing a 46mm watch I wonder if he ever thinks that people see it and think "boy that looks rediculous on his wrist". I guess not.
I'm so glad I got my Sea-Dweller.
My daily carry watch is a Hamilton 992b. I bought it purely for the reason that I dislike wrist watches and this serial number tracks to the year I was born.
Check out thepocketwatcher.com for plenty of old watches.

I am saving up for a really nice pocket watch.
Just added a Tag aquaracer to the collection for work. I think I already posted the Rolex turn-o-graph gold and stainless. From what I understand it is the only rolex with a red second hand and red date.
