Default Allagash Dubbel Reserve, Belgian "style" ale!

Here we are again! My second attempt at reviewing an extraordinary ale!
In front of me sits a brown glass bottle with a reddish violet label that fades to a silverish color. there is a picture on the label that is reminiscent of a woodcut stamp. It pictures a road leading to a mountain range. The road is lined with autumn trees, a leaf falling here, falling there! As I pour the ale a rich knobbly head forms that reminds me of the inner structure of a perfect baguette. The color is a deep brownish red. I can't make heads or tails of the scent, but it is not unpleasant, infact, quite the opposite! The taste instantly reminded me of a few chocolate stouts I have had! Young's and Anderson valley's stouts come to mind. There is an underlying flaver that I can't pinpoint but it vaguely reminds me of port!
I have had a few of the offerings by Allagash and I would have to say that they are all tremendous!!
Brewed in Portland Maine by Allagash brewing Co. Alcohol is 7 % by volume. It is sold in a 25.4 corked bottle and I paid $9.99 plus tax! If you don't mind laying down this kind of money for a pint and a half of ale, run, don't walk to your nearest liquor store. If you do mind plopping down this kind of money well, you should try it once in your life time!
