2013 Harley Ultra Limited
Because I'm on the road so much, my wife rides it more than I do. We joke that, someday soon, I just might get one of my very own.
I had planned to get the bike out for a ride Thursday, but not now, I guess.
It hit 57 degrees in upstate New York yesterday. We almost got the Harley out.. but then we got into the beer.
Oh well.
Yes, spring-like weekend. Probably now we will get a snowstorm to torture us a few more weeks. One spring I will ride down to Daytona. Haven't done that yet, so bucket list item.
My wife and I got up one morning and, at breakfast, we decided to take a ride. We ended up riding from Terre Haute Indiana to Benton Harbor Michigan and back. She got to wade in the Lake. :tu
Classic story of the freedom of a motorcycle.
Does that mean even during a stretch of warm weather during the winter season that riding is illegal? That stinks. If I am confident there is no ice on the roads, I put a big old windshield on my Sportster, hook up the electrically heated vest and gloves and go enjoy life.
Yup from Dec 1 to march 15 you need to have winter tires on your vehicle and since there are no winter tires for motorcycles you ride onw without getting a fine. Mind you can take it to a frozen lake and race around the ice just cant use a road. Its a silly law that removes any common sense. I used ride every month of the year (but only when it was nice out) but no more

Heck maybe we should have a thread on silly laws where you live (pretty sure id be in the running for 1st prize)
NJ lawmakers love to keep dreaming up new ways to tell us what to do, so I'm sure we'd b right up there with you!
Do they make laws telling people what to wear? Not talking about anti-nudity laws but what is allowed
Or what school you are allowed to go to?
Or try to tell people how to greet customers?

That's crazy even by NJ standards. I would hope people living in democracies would value their freedom more than being able to feel sanctimonious about telling someone else how to live. OK, done with my political rant.
You just need a proper machine! It's not like they are gonna chase you down! ;)

There's always a couple guys around here that'll take their bikes to work as long as the roads are dry, the sun is out and the temps are above 20 degF. Sometimes even without a helmet.
Wisconsin gov't is pretty hesitant to pass any laws to ever remove motorcycle freedoms.

It must be spring. Today I started getting my motorcycle ready for riding tomorrow. Plus I have been on Craigslist.org looking at more bikes!
Another rathole.
I like this one a lot ...... 2004 Honda VTX 1800

2007 Street glide
Was an as is where is purchase, had a few anxious moments sorting it out.
Worked out good, only 13,000 miles on it.
Fatboy next...
I'm getting the Ultra out this Thursday. Forecast says sunny, low 60s.
I fell in lust with the 2013 Road King CVO in blue.
Road a Road Glide CVO at Effingham Harley. Holy crap, what get up and go it had.
Sounds like you might have a collection. I've just got the one so far. I also look backwards to the Evo bikes, and have been looking at an Evo Fatboy and an Evo Heritage. Looked at a rough FXR shovel too.
I'm old school. After my '03 FXDWG got a bent frame, no more frames since the did away with the Dyna's which I think was a bad move. That was the newest bike I'd ever own but it was fun for 13 yrs. The MOCO is hurting now more lately & I think it's because of the new people on the board of directors.
I have 3 shovels, an FXWG completely in pieces, a chopper I need to finish and I have an '82 FXR I recently got. The guy I got it from said the engine was recently rebuilt and it does run good with no engine leaks. When I got it, it had some shitty pipes on it with a different tank. I already had a Thunderheader for it so I put it on. It has a larger size peanut tank on it which I prefer it to be looking stock so I may have found one. People want crazy $ for parts but I shop around & have found some for cheap. I'll post some pics soon. I took it around the neighborhood earlier & the front wheel has a little too much end play in it so I won't ride it anymore until I repack the bearings & shim it to spec. I turned wrenches in Harley dealers for many years.
If any of you with dual disc brakes have problems with the brake lever coming too close to the grip, I have a fix for that.
I'll just tell how to fix the dual disc brake problem which usually is on 2000-up Twin Cam bikes or any bike with custom multi piston calipers. They have 4 piston calipers and sometimes one or more pistons is sticking due to brake pad dust.
You will need compressed air with a blow tip. Use safety glasses when doing this to keep debris out of your eyes. Remove one caliper at a time & blow all the dust out, holding your breath when you do. Ya don't want to breathe that dust. Then spray some penetrating lube on the pistons. Using a wide putty knife or anything similar to place between the pistons, pump the brake lever. You will see one or more pistons moving while at least one or more might be sticking. When some pistons have moved out, it is a good idea to use some brake cleaner, then blow dry & re-lube. You will need to keep pushing the moving pistons back in with lube on them. Keep pumping & eventually the sticking pistons will loosen up. Once the sticking pistons move out, clean with brake cleaner & lube. Push them back in & pump again to make sure all 4 pistons are moving out. Once they are, make sure you lube them and push them back in until you can put the caliper back on. Clean off any excess lube. Repeat this procedure on the other caliper. Once you're done, put the other caliper back on & pump your brakes. When you pull in on the brake lever, it barely move before it stops and will not be so close to the grip anymore! Bingo. Your front brakes work like new again.
I won't ever understand why they shuttered Buell... all that money sunk, and a nice lineup... I had an XB12X. It was a very nice bike. I also had an '05 HD FLSTSC... that one I regret selling.
All I've got left now is an '84 BMW R100 and a '75 Norton, although I will probably take my old man's '99 Triumph Thunderbird Sport whenever I return to the U.S., as he hasn't ridden it in 5 years (and it's got a grand total of 600 miles on the clock).

You mean like this one a Grazor ? The other 2 are just I nice rides but my 03 fatboy will go to the grave with me. Going to be doing a basket 95 Electra glide soon going to try to get the horsepower that I have on the fatboy she’s the burn out queen around here
HEY! I recognize that bike!------

Exact same bike tc, no screen and bog standard except for a pair of slip on mufflers.
You obviously happy with yours, had it long?
Any problems with it?
Well since you all are showing off your 100th anniversary bikes, here's my Superglide Sport.

I’ve had it for 15 years or so. Had more than 10 bikes come and go. I like to buy them cheap in the winter then fix them and sell em. But usually have 3 riders in the garage. But this one stays. No problems but I’ve really kicked up the horsepower on it. Really no problems. But I rebuild motors so it really isn’t a problem. No slip on for this one. Not even a baffle. Let’s the neighbors know when I’m heading out. They would rather one of the other bikes on early mornings
Yea! :)
I just checked the weather forecast and a week from Monday the temps will be 50 F. + everyday so I can start riding my motorcycle !
Motorcycle riding.... the best form of social distancing I can think of. :)
I spent today working on my bike .
Last week i changed the spark plugs, oil change/filter.
Today i fitted new chain & sprockets, Brake pads, two sets on the front and one on the rear. I took a rear brake disc from my old bike (write off) and fitted it to my current bike. I use HH EBC pads which contain metal parts which eat through the discs but give great performance, hence i have to change the discs every now n then. I also clean and restore the pistons and calipers when i change pads. New pads last me 3 months . Tyres, 4 months..
That work would take a garage an hour or two..It took me all day. I did wash the bike also and test drove it..
Were good to go now :)
Snowed this morning on my way to work. Will be a while before I get at the bike :(
Just woke up an oldie from a long slumber. A friend built it and rode it twice. Traded him out of it.
'78 PE 250 with total '79 RM suspension. Circle F pipe with FMF ISDT arrestor and Trail Tech computer.
Everything is fresh. Maybe I will go wake-up the neighborhood in the morning about 9.
Especially since I know everyone will be home! :D
