It's legal in the UK. Some car drivers still get indignant if you pass them in traffic but usually because they're ignorant of the law (and jealous, obviously).

Back, way back in my ignorant late twenties, on a borrowed BMW R69, going 110 MPH on a straight stretch in the middle of bum you know what Oregon and realizing an abrupt 90 degree turn was coming up very, very fast, suddenly becoming a not so ignorant anymore late twenties, having the awareness to back off of the gas slowly so I could make the turn carefully and be able to write this run on sentence.
The one day i didn't lane split i got hit from behind by some blond chick putting on her make-up, a shoulder reconstruction and continual neck pain ever since i'm regretting that i didnt lane split.
IMHO after that incident, I think its safer to lane split then sit behind like a target... I don't ride much now due to the accident but when i do i lane split
I took to the footpath once, when I heard the distinctive sound of a car locking up on the wet road (it was raining heavily) behind me. The car smashed into the back of the car that I was, just seconds before, sitting behind. I was nearly Mick Meat in a car sandwich that afternoon.

Here is a cool pic of me (dude with the ape hangers) and about a dozen of my buddies on an old gravel road that leads to the Susquehanna River in Wrightsville PA. This was an annual ride in memory of of a lost pal.
I have just discovered Indian is being made again. I have fallen in love with the 'Indian Chieftain'. I want to own one...one day.

New member here with a long two wheeled history. Been riding since I was about 5 or 6 and currently average about 8-10K miles a year on my bikes. Much like straight shaving, I like that riding a bike take concentrated effort and skill vs. just going down the road in a car.
Primary bike - 1994 Honda CB1000F with 55K on the clock, 47k of which are "mine".

I've been out shopping for summer. Bought some Kevlar jeans and a dark visor. Also looking at a leather jacket, which I'll probably buy at the end of the month.
I also took my annoying Yamaha tank pad off and had it replaced with a clear protection film. Photo at the weekend, perhaps, when the bike comes out in the daylight.
