    Default Finally had a cuban

I know this isn't anything exotic for some of y'all, but I hit up a cigar shop in Paris and they had a selection of Cubans. I bought one, then proceeded to have a really nice smoke. It was so smooth and flavorful! Added to that, I had several glasses of Chardonnay, which luckily complemented it perfectly. I smoked it right up to the band, at which point it started to get hot and have that peppery taste. I think I'm hooked now

To me there is nothing in the smoking world that matches a genuine cuban cigar. Congratulations, what kind did you have ?

While there are fantastic, absolutely world-class smokes from all over the tobacco producing world (namely the high end Fuentes and Padrons, in my book), the sheer "density" of truly great smokes from Cuba is amazing. Cohiba Siglo IV has long been my favorite smoke for non "special occassions." For an early in the day, fresh palate cigar, nothing I know beats a mid/early 80's davidoff, usually the #2.
The Montecristo #2 is for good reason, the single most smoked cigar in the world.
The variety is simply stunning. I am a big fan of small ring-gauge cigars, as well, and no place is making them quite like Cuba these days. There are some nice lanceros from other countries, but the best I've had recetnly are from that old Island South of Miami. (ISOM in cigar circles).
Since my daughter was born (11 months ago), my cigar smoking has been SEVERELY curtailed. I have downsized my collection by one large cabinet humidor and about 1,250 cigars. With spring coming, perhaps I can take this opportunity to fall back in love with the leaf.

    Welcome to the ISOM club...enjoy!
