    Default O Lyric Love

    Gentlemen,

Robert Browning, in "The Ring And The Book," wrote:

O Lyric Love, half angel and half bird, /And all a wonder and a wild desire.

I thought about that today after fatigue from work drove me to slip in the video of one of my all-time favorite movies and just fade away for while. That is the 1944 film "Laura," with Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews and Clifton Web. Tierney is a stunning and intriguing woman in the role of Laura. Every time I see her in "Laura" I fall in love with her all over again.

That made me think about all the other stunning Hollywood actresses I've been in love with through the years. This obviously will show my age, because very few of today's female stars tickle the back of my neck. Here is the content of my black book in no particular order of preference. I've been in love with all of them — and still am — in their various roles in these movies. By the way, I speak only of falling in love with the image these beautiful women have created on the screen.

    1. Kim Novak in "Picnic" and "Vertigo."
    2. Rita Hayworth in "Gilda."
    3. Gene Tierney in "Laura."
    4. Ingrid Bergman in "Notorious."
    5. Julia Roberts in "Notting Hill."
    6. Grace Kelley in "To Catch a Thief."
    7. Audrey Hepburn in "Sabrina" and "Breakfast At Tiffany's"
    8. Greta Garbo in "Camille"
    9. Michelle Pfeiffer in "Tequilla Sunrise."

There are other stunning women in the movies I have loved through the years. These are all I can think of right now.

Gentlemen, who are the Hollywood film beauties in your life?

    Regards,

    Obie

I do have to agree with your point that Hollywood today is more about lust than love. I'd have to think for a bit to address your question, though. I'll be back...

    There's a few.

Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally."

Elle McPherson, who's six feet tall and Australian. Enough said.

Raquel Welsh brings me back to my childhood seeing her in go-go boots.

    Sandra Bullock in any role.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.
