Peterson pipes
Anybody here like to smoke a Peterson pipe? I have several of them and really enjoy how they smoke and I enjoy the English styles of their pipes.

I have one Pete, from the Aran line.... I really like it as a go-to pipe. Seems like it'll burn ANYTHING beautifully.

I have one of their smaller system pipes, the 317 as I recall. Great smoker, and I like that it traps the moisture away from the bowl, so you don't get that gurgling.
I also have their 1994 pipe of the year, and that is a thing to behold! Love it.

I have had a number of them over the years. I probably have a half dozen now with the shape 120 being the main model. All of the Petes I have kept are straight stemmed pipes and the 120 is the Dublin shape. If they had a 'P' lip I cut it off with my pocket knife as I hate the damn things. I am not a fan of bents but I have had bent Pete 'system' pipes in the past and sold or traded those. I do like the smoke I get out of my Petersons.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I have one--I can never remember the number, but it's a non-system bent with a P-lip. It's a nice pipe, but needs the draw opened a little for my taste; once I get that done it will probably move up the ranks in my smoking rotation, as I do like the style very much.
You will have noticed, I expect, that there is a whole social group devoted to Petes over at Smokers Forums.

With the system bents I did smoke in the past I used to open them up immediately and take a q-tip and swab the saliva out of the chamber. If you let that stuff sit in there they can get rank after awhile.

Thanked: 5I have 3 Petersons. Two "system" types and a churchwarden. All nice pipes. Unfotunately I am a "wet" smoker and I find that the system pipes do not work well for me. After about two minutes of smomking, they are like blowing a bubble pipe, so I do not use them too much.

I have a few Petersons. All good smokers, but really come alive with VA flakes.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

Thanked: 4had one once...
I had one once... it's one of the ones I gave away a few years back when I gave up pipes. Now I'm rebuilding so I look forward to picking one up again. Mine was a full bent "system" type and I liked it a lot. Not one of their fancier ones, but worked very well.
