    Default Lock picking

    Dear friends,

Back in my army days there wasn't much of fun and entertainment around so picked up lock picking. No before we start lets establish that lock picking is not illegal, as long as the lock you are picking is your own.

Furthermore, it's not illegal to ow or cary lock picks as long as you don't intend using them for anything illegal. Basicly a carying a brick in your hands in front of a store display window is more illegal than having lock picks. It's the intend and not the item that makes it illegal. Besides, there are easyer ways to break in somewhere than picking a lock since this takes time and skill.

Now that's said I myself lockpick for 2 reasons:
    1) Pure fun, a lock is like a mechanical puzzle and only patience and skill can help you get it open
    2) The wow factor when you open somebody front door within seconds after they have locked them selfs out.

Anyhow, here are some lock picking video's of me for you to enjoy

A while ago my school decided it would be a good idea to install pad locks on all the classroom doors. The only problem was that they forgot to give keys to the teachers. Things are done this way in Thailand.
Anyway, at that time I wanted to learn lock picking. But it turned out easier to 'borrow' the keys and make my own copies.

Lock picking takes hours of daily practice to become proficient enough to open most common found locks. Besides for padlocks and cylinders there are special tools to open them with almost no training.

At a jobsite there was no key left for us like there was supposed to be. Some old guy plucked a modified pocket knife from his trousers and had the door opened in minutes. I was fascinated. This was really cool I thought. He ended up giving me that knife and I managed to open a couple of doors before I broke the blade, obviously doing something wrong there. A handy skill for sure! Now when it happens we just drill out the cylinder. not as cool.

I worked as an auto mechanic for several years. The best tool easily available for applying pressure to the cylinder is from a German made car that has a wiper insert with metal supports. That insert metal is unbreakable and really thin.

+1 on wiper blades. I use them to make my own lockpicks (steel street sweeper bristols are awesome to).

In most places in the U.S having a set of lock picks on your person is illegal unless your a licensed locksmith.

If you need any advice, or tips feel free to contact me. I'm pretty good at it nowadays. Ofcourse I won't tell you how to open high secirity stuff and I won't sell any kind of bypass or quick lock opening devices but I am more than willing to set you up with some homebrew ninja tools if you like Do check if it's legal though, wouldn't wanna get you into trouble....
