A chance to try a new tobacco for me this afternoon. Celtic Talisman is blended from Bright Virginias, Burley and Black Cavendish. Topped with a dash of sweet cherry and vanilla.
I enjoyed it for it's great aroma which was a bit like fruitcake. Ribbon cut burned perfectly. I would give it a bit below medium in nicotine strength, but smooth and calming.

A trio of Ashtons. From back to front, an ELX 'Old Church' poker, another old church, an LX ring grain 1/4 bent, and a XXX Pebble Grain poker. All good smokers ;

When I began smoking pipes in earnest I had Richard Hacker's 'The Ultimate Pipe Book' as my mentor. I recall how reading about reaming pipe bowls seemed a daunting task. Like straight razor shaving, there seemed to be so much to know. Over the years I've accumulated a bevy of reamers and found that 'it ain't no big thing.' :)

A quartet of vintage Dunhill reamers. The two larger, the size 0, and 1, were very difficult to find.

Some Swedish made reamers that are incredibly sharp, and to the right, a set of 'PipNet' Swiss reamers of more recent vintage. Also very sharp. Below an old 'Kleen Ream out of Peabody, Mass, which used to be sold in any 'good' pipe shop. Probably long since defunct by now.
