Smoking some Samuel Gawith Best Brown in a Savinelli 111KS. This session is becoming one of those elusive great smokes. It's just tasting so good tonight. What did I do wrong :rofl2:
Ok so this is actually last night smoke.:p

Rattrays Hal O" The Wynd in my Rattrays Old Gowrie #6. Lovely evening smoke.
This blend is dark fired Kentucky forward with Virginia and Perique as more a supporting role. Interesting stuff.
In about a week and a half I'm heading back home to England to see my grandparents and some friends and to pick up a reasonable supply of tobacco. It's about three times the price over here in Norway and the selection is very limited. I'll be picking up a few little clays too so will try to get some pictures up. Anyway, I thought I'd run my shopping list by you all. I can bring 250g, for free and a total of 500g if I pay some tax.
50g Gawith Hoggarth dark plug
200g Gawith Hoggarth dark flake (possibly more plug, but I've already ordered that)
50g Germain's rich dark flake
50g revor plug
50g cabbie's mixture
50g Peterson's Irish flake
I might swap a couple out, depending on what's available. I'm also trying to strike a balance between getting what I want and supporting a local brick and mortar tobacconist in my friend's town, hence large quantity of dark flake. I was considering for some black pigtail since it's technically chewing tobacco and the tax is lower. Not sure about that though.
I bought some Peterson's Perfect Plug from the local tobacconist without realising that it is a hard compressed square brick of tobacco.
Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to prepare the flake?
I like to cut some off with pocket knife and rub out but there are many ways to prepare it. That’s just what I do.
I usually cube cut plugs. I cut off about a quarter of an inch, maybe a bit less, then cut that the other way into little square towers that break up easily into little cubes. Drop those into the pipe and light up. I haven't had PPP for a while, but as I recall it's a pretty solid plug.
Thanks for the tips Gents.
I peeled off some thin sheets from the brick and then tore them up into small pieces.
Going to smoke it tonight in the Petersen.
