Thanks for the tips, 1OldGI. Unfortunately we can't get C&D in Europe (or at least i haven't ever seen) but Dunhill is not a problem.

Just got back home yesterday evening from the 43rd Archipelago Rally. Not exactly any Daytona Bike Week but with about 500 bikes it is one of the oldest and biggest bike meets in my country. This was my 24th.

Surprisingly i am done with beer for few days now, so now it is just a damn strong coffee and CF. Very good combination for a situation like this.

They sell, among other things, C&D. Synjeco's Pipe Smoker's Haven

Thank you Sir. This was great news from unexpected place called Mongolia.
And what a strange coincidence this is. Usually you don't hear much news or anything from Mongolia, but today morning there was a large article from the country at the local newspaper. You have lot of nature and not much cities. Something i like very much. And you still have wild horses there!
This was really a new link to me. What's best: They sell also another long-time-no-see favourite of mine: Bad Nun. For those who like their tobacco strong.

Damn! Yesterday i made myself a pipe rack. I don't know why. At some moment of this project it must have been a good idea to me.

Short story little longer. My mother-in-law lives in a house that's almost 130 years old. Through the years it has been repaired and restored and fixed, sort of an eternally ongoing process. I usually stay as far as possible from the lizard lady, but few years ago she kind of surprised me behind the bushes. She wanted to have new stairs for her 2nd floor. Of mahogany. She wanted me to make them. Lol. I had so many reasons to say no way madam, but pretty soon my wife started singing in the same choir so it became obvious to me that this is just one of the battles i will shamefully lose. As my son heard about my misfortune he started to laugh, and that was a mistake. For him. Soon i got him convinced that we are crawling in a same swamp here. It is so nice how kids are always willing to help the old man.
Mahogany is damn strong stuff. The only good thing from that week of horrors was that i had few pieces of mahogany to use later with some of my projects. That day was yesterday.

So here's what i started with. Notice the stains on the base plate. They are called 'first blood'

Now i had been looking for the vintage pipe racks from eBay for some time. There's a lot of them. Cheap and beautiful. There are many that look like an old fence or gate. I must have gotten the idea of making this myself at those times. Instead of monkeying global shape i decided to ape locally. The decoration you see is very common here. You can find it with several variations in fences, gates and rooftops almost everywhere, specially with older houses but with modern houses too. I have such symbol in my front door. it is an ancient symbol, but there are historical reason for the popularity of the symbol. My pipe rack has no symbolic meaning. Just an image of an old gate.

And that is what i ended with. Now my poor pipes have to stand there in line. Like scary rookies waiting for the maniac sergeant.
Well maybe this would be suitable for razors with little changes, but not for me. I already have a rack for my razors.

Notice that it looks very rude and simple, and that is what it exactly is. I have this weird interest of vintage hand tools and working methods so i didn't use any electric tools when making this absurd 'thing'. Also there is no metal parts like screws or nails. Maybe i should get myself a life. Just glued the parts together and wiped with tar to get some color and to give it a nice scent.
For me this little thing will also be sort of a ying/yang object. As to remind that life is not so nice. Now every time i'm about to pick a pipe i will also remember the week of horrors and pain when me and my son were making those stairs for the dragon woman.

I am a Swede living here in the land of vast steppes. And I'm follow this thread because I'm a non-smoking pipe smoker, or periodically smoking :) Mostly because of my wife's asthma.
