No pic tonight:p. Had a nice puff of Borkum original in a Riviera. I am not sure why this gets a bad rap, I really like this stuff.
Happy ipsd...!!!
Frog Morton in a Barling!!! Waw... piety no photo... I'm out for a congress...
I am a DIY type of guy and see these ashtrays with a cork in them. I have never used one. [The toe of my boot works pretty well.] I have a Riga Sprats can and have a few corks from Port bottles.:rofl2: My question is... Are these corks treated in anyway? What is to keep them from burning up? If they do they are in an ash tray though... Please forgive my "silly" question but I feel comfortable with this group to ask!:tu
Also I have not had a pipe today. After I post this I have to shovel snow and get my rear to bed. Maybe tomorrow I will have 2. Such is life.;)
I get corks from my local. They come with adhesive bottoms but, I always use extra strong double sided tape squares to secure them. They have never 'burned' and are pretty tough. I think it's their density that keeps them from burning up and the fact that pipe ash usually extinguishes pretty quick.
If you like it then so be it. I wish Old GI or Nosewarmer would chime in here. Borkum is one of those old school "codger" blends that peoples grandfathers usually bought at the drug store and they were usually pretty cheap. Think of it like old Milwaukee beer vs a premium ale. But hey....on a hot as hell day when someone hands you an icy fresh outta the ice water cooler beer, you say thank you and it usually goes down pretty good. So experiment and enjoy.:)
For IPSD I enjoyed a bowl of "Old Red" followed by half a bowl of "Norseman". These are preservative-free blends my local tobacconist sells for about $2-4 an ounce. Old Red is a nice mellow cherry and Norseman is a rich, black and robust blend.
Late happy IPSD from here too. I almost missed the day until late evening.
For the past few weeks we have been trying to reach our family members via phone or email with no response. They used to work here in Finland but moved back to Kiev as the orange revolution broke out about 10 years ago.
With the current Yevromaidan uprising and with the death toll of almost 70 yesterday my wife was almost sick for worrying so much.
However, got an email yesterday evening and they are fine and well. With the current armistice i hope everything will be fine.
I'm not about to say anything about politics, just so happy to hear our dear friends are fine.
Now it's time for some Balkan Delight from pre-rep Pete. And a bottle of beer too.
