Always a sad day when one learns that a favourite band has called it a day. But it has been a good run for these guys, and I'll always be grateful not only for the music but also for all the images from my hometown that they brought to me when I loved far away. Thank you Weakerthans. You'll be missed!

And I can't not include their best-known song. A song that only a Winnipegger can truly understand. A song that capture so much about the place that people love and hate. And a song that John K Samson always prefaced (when playing at home) by saying that he really does love the city...

Found an old Metallica cd that is getting a turn in the car! My wife and daughter are not impressed...
An imitation "Retro" mono radio that I got from work. The local "classic" rock station. I must be a classic!
At work it doesn't make sense to pay me to fix a $35 radio but instead of throwing it out i brought it home to prove I could. :)
The vocals on Free Bird suck on this one.
Weird Al Yankovic live. Great show.

Local indie band. Guess this kind of music would never gain much popularity in the big world. But has a sure place here.

Geordie, my favourite House of the rising son cover. Brian Johnson's voice was better before AC/DC
Oops meant to Reply to thread, not specific comment
Most of Geordie isn't great, but House of the rising sun is very good. Same for ac/dc. Wish Bon Scott had lived.
I don't mind Brian Johnson, but Bon Scott was my favorite as well...saw Bon Scott on the last tour of his life, Highway to Hell here in Toronto, was awesome...Night Prowler is one of my favorite songs, and this one always get turned up in the car:
