This previous weekend I had an opportunity to put a Steyr SA1 pistol thru its paces.
There are a multitude of manufacturer's out there building firearms that when you pull the trigger it sends a bullit down the barrel. Some are better than others. This one is better.
This is a striker fired pistol with polymer frame, comes in 9MM and 40 S&W and you can get the MA1 with 4 inch barrel and the SA1 with 3 1/2 inch barrel and shorter grip.
This pistol made in Austria was designed by some of the same people who designed the Glock. I carried a Glock Model 23 in .40 cal. for about five years as an issue weapon. The Steyr is what the Glock should have been.
The trigger, sights and grip on this pistol are fantastic.
Check out www.steyrarms.com - when you get to the site click on the news about Steyr importing the pistol under the news column.
The SA1 is about 6 1/2 inches long, slightly over an inch wide and about 4 3/4 inches high. It would conceal well. Galco and DeSantis have holsters and magazine pouches for this pistol.
For the last decade if it was not a .45 1911 or a Springfield XD or a small Smith & Wesson J frame for pocket carry I was not interested. This pistol has changed my mind. I intend to purchase one.
It has a mag capacity of ten rounds in the compact model and more in the larger size.
If you find yourself in harm's way - you could do a lot worse than this pistol.
