I could have bought about 30 Pilot Varsities for the same price. I am afraid that tomorrow I will loose it on the first day at work!

My avg pen was in the $150 range and for years I never lost one of them, in fact I still have them. I got the Lamy, big hands.., for a work pen that I didn't have to worry about.

Just like razors there are a wide veriety of styles to fit a persons user needs. I like a larger pen just like I enjoy a larger razor. Try them all and remember what feels good :)

If you want one that really writes well, check out the higher end Pelikans. I have an M800 and it is smooth as glass. I use Aurora ink in it (I like the color, but it is really good ink). You probably won't find it for 50-100, but I bought mine on ebay for ~$150.

When I started using them, my handwriting improved a lot. I had to slow down. After about a week or two of using them I was writing just as fast (maybe faster once I realized how to really use them) as I was and my handwriting was legible.

I wish I had known it would do that in high school.

Also, how does everyone carry their pen?

I have got a saddleback leather moleskine cover recently and put a quiver brand pen holder on it. It hold 2 pens well for me. I generally keep a light and a darker color ink. I currently have brown in one and green in the other.

unfortunately for me, I have found that the colors unlike the most are not made.......whenever I replace the cartridge (run out in class) I just put a new one in, often a different color and when they mix I get colors I like a lot. I just need to figure out a way to make them now. Oh, I do rinse out my pens with water whenever they run out and I'm not in class

This little guy is growing on me. Kinda looks like some futuristic dual lightsaber turned off. and becomes a pen.

Now that I only take the Lamy to work I just clip it onto my apron. When I'm out in the world I usually carry my Pilot VP clipped to the coller of my shirt. I don't dress up so a tshirt collar works just fine :p At home I use my Pilot custom 74 the most. I'm saving up for a Sailor Pro Gear and hope it takes over as the house pen :p

I must say, with use the Ohto Rook has smoothed out a lot. I may have to take it home from work and use it side by side with the Pilot G2 again, just to see if maybe I have just gotten used to the pen or if it really has smoothed out.

Edit: Has me wondering how it would feel if I wrote a few paragraphs on my CH12K

You people are a BAD influence. I bought an Ahab last month with some bulletproof ink. Then I bought some Knox nibs for it that arrive today.

Yesterday I bough a refurbished Parker 51.

I guess I'm hooked.

I scored 2 Parker 51 Specials for a whopping $2.50 ea :) Not a pen I would normally look for or buy, but at that price I couldn't see a down side. Turns out they are both fully functional and write very well. After cleaning them out and drying them off they where put in a box and never came out :( Need to do something with them ... I'm hooked on Triumph Sheaffers and a few modern Japanese FP's.

I carry mine in a pocket protector. If 30 years ago you would have told me to use a pocket protector I would have punched you in the nose as i was laughing!

Similar to running out of arm hair while learning how to hone, I am trying to learn the use of a fountain pen. Here is a doodle I did tonight.
