Odds are it was used for any kind of games you would find in a casino( poker, blackjack, Texas, craps) but the problem is the dice don't look old enough to be original, and the old playing cards didn't used to have to have the Numbers on them. But the chips look good and the box does also. If there's a local museum or college around you may take some pictures and ask them if you can talk to someone involved in preindustrial revolution America.
