My network consists of five desktop machines (one running, one cofigured with a custom OS for my Uni exercises, the PPro 200 for the hell of it and two dual socket Xeon machines shoe horned into min tower cases), two laptops, my proxy server (another dual socket Xeon that handles web caching, DNS forwarding, content filtering and in-line virus scanning) and two other headless machines I power up for specific jobs (dual core Opterons). Aside from the laptops, every machine is built with salvaged or donated parts, some almost completely. Currently four of those machines run 24/7 doing humanitarian research, all of which are running customised linux distributions, as are most of the rest excluding the PPro and one laptop which belongs to the wife.
You could say I'm not exactly a typical home user.
