Any "good watch" can come off the production line with issues. Rolex is a mass produced watch. It's not as if it was custom made. When watches come off the line they get a certain amount of regulation but jarring in transit, magnetic fields and sloppy production and much more can cause a watch to run poorly no matter the brand. Reputation can be bought and mean little.
Personally, over the years, I've had plenty of issues with "very well respected Swiss brands" and what was worse was the treatment by their authorized factory service centers and incompetence.
You want a watch that runs great out of the box and doesn't cost much? Buy a Seiko or a Citizen. Right now I'm wearing a Citizen Diver which runs to within 3 seconds a day and it cost me less than 600 bucks.
