What types of watches do you like?

I rotate between two Seiko Automatic Divers (for nearly 10 years now). I destroyed watches before I moved up to these...and they're cheap compared to most mechanicals. (well, the "5's" are cheaper--i gave Mom one of those, she loves it.)

Durability, stylish enough (unlimited colors in those James Bond bands) day/date function, no batteries not never ever. that's how my wrist rolls.

And when somebuddy says "What time is it?" I glance and tell them before _everybody else_ can fish their phone out and see.

_as far as fine stuff goes_ One of my pal's major race-team sponsors is RGM watch company. Look 'em up if you'd like to spend between 2k and sky-is-the-limit-custom. But last I checked most of their stuff is 2-5k or so. And if i ever "step up" my watch game- RGM is it.

What are the actual Seiko's you have, would be very interested to know!!

I've got two nice Seiko's, a Ventura Direct Drive and an old Rare Seiko 7T59 1/100 sec Chronograph, still have this one, same one as in the video, it is a superb watch:

I've got about 30 seiko's right now. A bunch of vintage ones and a bunch of newer ones some pocket watches too. I've been collecting watches for 30 years.

I've had 3 spring drives and the liquid ink digitals and a King seiko, Time Sonar, Navigator Timer, and a whole bunch more.

That Patek Phillipe triggered my urge for a new watch.
Currently I am considering one of the following four:

If you have the money the Patek is the only way to go. The two IWCs are very different. One sport , the other dress. I don't like Panerai. I think they are so overpriced they make Rolex look like a bargain.

Patek's are nice, no doubt!
As with every hobby or interest though, ymmw applies heavily:)
Take Rolex for instance, a brand that without doubt is a driving force in the watch-making community.
To me though, they seem to attract all the wrong crowds up here in my community, and I have absolutely no desire for one because of this.
My wife sports one though, and she is very pleased with it.

My affection for the two IWC's has little to do with objectivity, they are pieces with some history to me, due mostly to memories of good times had with old mates that shared my love for their designs.
The Portuguese was the very first watch I considered buying when I was finally in a position to obtain one.
I spent 2 hours in a Belgian store near Grand place in Brussels oogling it, and that piece took eternal residence in my mind:)

My affection for Panerai is harder to explain, but the design of most of them are to my liking, simple as that really.
A lot of the Grand Compilations out there, from most any brand, looks like a Bangalore Christmas three to me, way too noisy and screaming.
The Panerai's I'm into are of a simpler design without looking like they belonged to my grand-dad.

RIGHT!!! "Buy Watch" is now on my calendar for Dec 16, 2023!! :p

So, I'll look for a Seiko 5 on Ebay, and a timex self winding.

I have a Rotary watch, and I love it. It's one of those old-fashioned ones that feel timepiecey, if you know what I mean.

But i don't do the Seiko metal bracelet or the diver rubber strap (they break). These don't and come in very wide array of color combinations:

Invictas are the best for the money. Try one and I guarantee you will fall in love with them.

Gotta love a Zulu strap!
