My dad gave me his Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust. He bought it in 1971 and it winds by body movement. I love it and won't ever own/wear any other watch. Someday my son will have it; he's 3 yrs old. He's got a long wait (I hope) haha.
I use an old USSR windup pocket watch almost exclusively.
You'll have to forgive the very average phone picture but this is the love of my life at the moment. It's an IWC GST perpetual calendar.
Thats a very nice watch, assume you use a watchwinder box.
They used to ,but if you go to the watchlords website, you'll find out that they haven't been telling the truth about a lot of there so called Reserve collection, they were caught putting chinese movements in watches with Swiss Made on the dial, also the were selling watches with gray market Dupua-Dupre (sic) movements that were so bad that the movement house put out a statement that they had never sold any movements to them.
Unfortunately there are about a dozen other bogus moves they were caught doing, too bad too, they DID make some really nice watches,oh and the latest one I know of is the fake sandstone dials they were advertising.
Is it a Vostok or one of the other brands whose name escapes me right now?
My two vostok watches used to get worn all the time but then I got an Orient and it gets worn to work most days. One of my G-shocks gets worn to bed. I like the alarms.
I just recently read about medical pocket watches from the former soviet block so now I have to start searching out one of those.
Timex story . Early 70's when returning home from work I found that they had re black topped the street along side my home. After parking in my drive I noticed a round silver colored disc in the freshly rolled black top. Thinking it was a coin I went to pick it up. Wrong it was embedded to the point where I needed a screw driver to extract it. A Wind up Timex with it's band. In one piece and STILL RUNNING. Timex made in England! Used it for years still somewhere in the house. 'Timex takes a licking and keeps on ticking!'
