Me too!
I might have lots of fountain pens, and some dip pen nibs as well (no oblique holder, though... yet?). I have even got some books on calligraphy, and read some on spencerian, copperplate, roman, gothic blackletter, carolingian, and so. Never got to practice, though, and all that reading and hardware is just there "sleeping" and waiting for better times...
Gentlemen, I have been curious about but avoiding this thread like the plague since becoming a member of SRP for obvious reasons.:D
I do not have a specific "need" for a fancy shmansy writing tool as almost all my communications are with the computer.
But after some time reviewing this thread I found that I can become a fountain pen owner for only a few dollars, not much of a downside even if i don't use it.
So i placed an order with Goulet for a 2 Jinhaos X750 and as recommended one of their nibs and a Schmidt converter.
Just for fun i ordered a Hero with Fude nib which may work out well for my 200 or so signatures per month.
Glad to finally make it over here. :chapeau
Welcome Raoul, the jinhao x450's are nice pens, i haven't used a 750. They look similar just with a different grip thingo.
Let us know how you go.
eBay is a really cheap source. I fact it costs pretty much the same to buy a whole pen as it does to get a converter.
Talking of fountain pens and dip pens, posted this on fb the other night as part of a poemy sort of thingy thing. Sort of sums up what I do with a dip pen when I'm in the mood, doesn't it Ed? Ed's fly leaves were from several books all stapled together ;)
"Later, I'll tear the fly leaves from old books and on them in brown ink write letters to those I've never met."
One of my latest ink acquisitions:

Now I am going to have to re learn to write so my messages are legible.
Those are nice looking jars of ink. Expensive?
I really like that piece of leather that holds your note books.
Very manly. :)
Ink bottles are not expensive. Prices range from €4-€20 per 50ml. Graf Von Fabber Castle(top photo on the left) is one of the most expensive ones, about €22 the 70ml.
