I grew up in a similar setting. No town within 30 miles was over 2000 people and nobody any any of them locked their doors. One day six men jumped a friend of mine, if they hadnt been interrupted by someone willing to do more then them he would have died. To this day he has trouble breathing from the way his nose and ribs healed. Since then I've never left the house unarmed in some fashion.Quote:

That won't always get you home. I saw a video recently where the man cooperated and they still pulled the trigger, more than once. The only thing that saved him was the gun was so cheap it wouldn't go off.Quote:

A man at Church was a CCW. Another man was thinking about getting a license and wanted to see the carrier's gun. They went in a closet and the carrier took out his gun and removed the magazine. The gun went off and the bullet went through the wall and struck the Preacher's Daughter in the head. She is in critical condition if she is still alive today.
For this reason I chose a pistol with a magazine disconnect. Also for this reason I carry a pistol with a real safety, unlike a Glock.
