Heres my smith & wesson 9mm sigma series pistol I have added lazer, steel guide rod & recoil spring, increased strength sear spring, and reduced weight trigger pull spring. Along with several holsters and annother magazineAttachment 110180 will also add pics of other guns I own later.
On Nov 1 Oklahoma will be an open carry state. I don't think I'll open carry, to me it seems that you're giving up a tactical advantage. I'm curious what others in open carry states think.
Just now saw the other thread, even after a search for CCW, go figure. Sorry.
Here in VA we're open carry. I'm not a big fan of advertising what I have while I'm out and about.
The upside is that if my shirt comes untucked or I'm on my way to the range and need to make a quick ammo stop I can keep my gun on my belt and nobody really cares.
But I also live in an area where an awful lot if people own more camo than any other clothes so guns ate pretty common down here.
There are some trying for open carry here in FL for a long while. I've had a ccw permit since the early '90s and I 'don't leave home without it.' I agree that it leaves the person with a tactical disadvantage if they are a non LEO carrying openly. May even get them killed. Perps might take them out immediately to neutralize the threat or to get their weapon. IMHO.
It took Oklahoma awhile to get open carry passed. I was granted my permit in August and tbh I'm still a little paranoid abut whether I'm profiling or not. lol the first time I carried I kept checking to make sure it wasn't visible.
I open carry most of the time (once in awhile concealed) and it's pretty common to do so here in Arizona. I carry not to be a hero who prevents some sort of crime from occurring, but rather for protection for myself and my family who live in a city where we are short over 150 police officers for the city's size and population. I agree with Jimmy regarding the possibility of an non LEO open carry citizen becoming a target for the "perps" but for me personally, I just try to avoid situations where that may be the case. Whether you carry concealed or open, training with your gun of choice and proper mindset are key.
An S&W M&P .40 in the winter, and a Ruger LC9 in the summer (when the clothes are less bulkier). Usually I conceal, but have been known to open carry when on my motorcycle because there really isn't a comfortable way to CC on a bike.
I CC where legal, OC where legal. There are "tactical advantages" to both.
Either way, my holster is filled with a Walther P99 in 9x19mm.
FWIW, I made my own OC holster.
