How many people CCW here?

Well, after over five months of waiting, the Glock model 27 has arrived, Huzzah!!! I drove over and paid for it and in ten days she shall be mine. So now I have a question. And I know that a lot has to do with personal preference, but, here it goes. What am I going to carry it in? Some information that may help, although I'm currently losing weight, I consider myself a short, fat Portugee. And, since my ankle is FUBAR, I don't do too much walking. I'm very fond of wearing untucked Hawaiian shirts and shorts. I was just hoping for some brands to look for and what ones to shy away from. I'd just as soon throw it in my pocket, but sitting around doesn't work well, with the Sig I have now anyway. I've never carried with a holster, so I don't even know what options are out there. Anyway, any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

I'm partial to the Blackhawk serpa 2 from my last picture because it takes a lever press to release and the trigger is covered at all times. Of course it's not very concealable so there's a trade off.

A simple question that is hard to answer.
You need to locate a business that has several options to try out.
But regardless, a good belt is a must. A belt that will take the beating a holster will give it & still keep it's shape & support.

You , like all concealed carriers, will end up with more than one system of carry; it's like owning only one straight razor.

A holster that has a retention system is advised. The chances that you will find yourself in a physical struggle first, while carrying it, are greater than the scenario that you will spot the threat first & have time to flee or deliver controled rounds on target.

Just remember, whatever system of carry you choose, just carry it ,,,,,a gun in the glovebox of your car or on the nightstand is worthless when you just ran into the grocery store to grab a gallon of milk.

In Canada, the only people allowed to carry handguns are the police and the criminals....

So, does a nasty set of nail-clippers in my front pocket count? They even have that nasty little, pointy file on them!

Sorry to hear that you can't carry up there in the great white North. As for your other comments, yes, yes there is a thread for helping Carl in Australia pick out some boots. Along with one for a jacket and another one for a hat for him. You should check them out, some of the suggestions are hilarious!!

I'll give you my $.02, but will back it up. Crossbreed Supertuck in horsehide. If you don't like it, I'll buy it from you as it will fit my or my wife's G26...as long as you are right handed. I chose this one after Lynn gave me the exact same advice...you can spend a chunk of change on trying out different holsters, I know. My carry gun is a compact 1911 & the Crossbreed is quite comfortable.

agree but one better. Save the coin and by a knock off on ebay. I have one for 4 different weapon platforms and they all work great. go with the poly clips not metal.

Crossbreed is great for the 4-6 o'clock position, as is allessi leather. For appendix or full kydex I'd look into brovo concealment their DOS rig is great. I carry a Remora for anything quick or driving long distance. They stick to clothes and stay very well planted. But when you want to throw them on or take them off easily or without a belt you can't beat them.

Okay, I have some questions. Maybe I don't know because we're only just now getting CC here in Ill-annoy, but what do you mean when you talk about appendix vs. 4-6 o'clock carry?
Also, what are your thoughts on a shoulder rig for carrying in a vehicle? It seems to me that most other methods would be either uncomfortable or unsafe to use in a vehicle.

Appx carry is forward on belt, inside the waistband (or belt) on either side of your navel; 4-, or 6 o'clock carry place a weapon slightly behind the hard of the hipbone or at the small of your back. Some folks swear by a pocketed bellyband that puts the weapon inside your pants and hanging from just under the navel. Shoulder rigs are a nuisance to wear because, once you put one on it has to stay covered, period. They're not the worst thing in cold weather but, either way you have to love wearing a jacket. They also compel a cross-draw.

Very personal thing, holsters.
