My AKC German Shepherds: Kyra & Uri
My saltwater crocodile lives in the pool.
James.
Over a thirty year period in my life, I had nothing but Aussie cattle dogs AKA "heelers". I drove cattle trucks and worked around cattle pretty much all of the 80's. The first three didn't get to live exceedingly long lives for one reason or another. My last one was 16 when he passed on. ALL of those dogs were the the grittiest, smartest, SOB's I've ever been around in my life. My last dog had a 50 some odd word vocabulary. He was a clown and my "velcro" dog. Never needed a leash. Used to take him to the bars with me and he'd lay right beside me and follow me back and forth the restroom. NOBODY ever got in a vehicle I left him in and my wife was the only one that could come in the bedroom and wake me up if I was sleeping. He wouldn't even let the kid in. He'd bark and raise HELL but he never bit anyone to my knowledge. That old dog and I trucked together for ten years before I got married.
I was pretty heartbroken when he died. Told the wife that was it. NO MORE DOGS. The basset hound is hers from before we were married and she took the knot headed Corgi from some folks that knew nothing about dogs and were scared of him hurting their kids. I taught him some manners pretty quick. He's smart, he's cute but he ain't "my dog".
Heelers will challenge you every day in some way or another. IF you don't give 'em a mission, they'll find their own and it more often than not is something you'd rather they didn't do.
I love 'em but probably won't ever have another. I doubt that I could find one that would be a better dog than my old buddy and I don't think it would be fair to another dog to ask him to try to measure up.

That's not a pool in your backyard. It's a swamp!
I might have a dog as a pet, but then again that dog over there to the left might have a human as a pet. We're still working on who's the boss of who...:)
Oh yes, there is also a fish in the family and many horses who act like they are pets, but they're not.

AKA Blueys if you're talking about Blue Heelers Willie. And I do believe you are. I've had a few of those in my life too. The most loyest dogs around. Other dogs that are on a par with them are Kelpies (all types, not just the Reds). Most dogs have there only master as the food bowl, but them blueys and kelpies look to the human who feeds them as the real master.
