We are at a current low with one dog (Red Heeler mix) and 2 cats.
In the recent past we have also had a ball python, iguana, cockatiel, marine fish, sugar glider, and a raccoon.
The raccoon was the most fun. She was caught inside the wall of a house as a baby and we had to bottle feed her. She was never completely tame though. While she was completely attached to us, she had a wild "switch". If you picked her up you would flip her switch and she was after blood. As soon as you put her down the switch flipped off and she was ready to play. At the same time she loved to ride on our shoulders and play with our hair. We used to take her to the local lake and she loved to hunt for food on the shore. This she just seemed to know how to do without being taught. She also loved to play hockey on the kitchen floor with a piece of ice.
I still miss her (Rica) and I still have scars. We had to keep her hidden as it is illegal in Texas to own one or even move one more than 10 miles. Vets are forbidden to treat them and there are no rabies shots available. Rabies in raccoons is not a problem in Texas as it is on the East coast.
