Leather Watch Band

Gents! Look what I got!! An honest to goodness back to the 70's leather watch band!! WooT!!

Being there are so many guys here who know a thing or two about leather :). Or do you think I should just leave it be?

Have had a similar one Black German Bund Open-End Oil Leather for awhile now and never treated it with anything. Got to admit it crossed my mind today to rub a little Neatsfoot oil in, a very little amount. It may not help but I am sure it would not hurt.

Watch straps are disposable items. You just wear them until they fall apart and just pitch them. Unless it's really stiff stuff and you want to soften it up. A lot of these new straps are treated for water resistance so if that's the case I wouldn't do anything.

Apparrently you don't plan on sweating alot... I remember those back in the 70's and they smelled like a bum's nut sack after awhile..

Nice band, one of the nicer ones of the "Bund/Nato" breed I've seen so far.

I would wear it untreated for a few weeks at least, then clean gently with some saddle soap and follow up with a dab of neatsfoot. Or just don't do anything and let your skin's natural oils and sweat do the job :-)

Thanks gents! I put it on, and it's not too stiff. It should soften nicely.

I think I'll go the "nothing" then maybe a little product later route.

As for smelling like a uh... bum's nut sack. Maybe I'll take the band off in the spring before it gets to smelling that bad :).

Did I read that right? You'll take off the bum's nut sack in the spring? Where, exactly, are you wearing it? For earrings? :shrug:
