Duracoat for weapon care. Guns and knives etc...

In the upcoming months and hopefully years I will be duracoating as a side job (really more for my own fun) and posting some of the pics for your enjoyment. Any related failures will also be posted. Has anyone used this in the past? I have done a few projects already such as a rusted up Ruger Mark I that got a new lease on life. It was my first weapon given to me as a gift by my father and god father when I was five.Attachment 122818Attachment 122819
I just finished shooting some supressors with dura heat and will post other pics soon of them.

The hardest part is waiting all that time for it to finish setting up, then finding I got too thick a coating on some moving parts. It does work as advertised, blends in nicely (if the tool operator is careful) and is durable. If you go with a thin coat you can still see some tool marks if they were there to begin with.

All serial numbers and engravings should be readable if applied right. I use an airbrush so controlling flow is not an issue. The cans turned out fantastic. I'm at work right now so can't upload the pics. Shooting the bolt on the Mark I was a test to see first how well it holds up in a high friction area(fantastic) and also the lubrisity of it(also fantastic).
I've used it quite a bit and the next big job will be a Kimber Ultra Carry for a client. OD green slide with Coyete Brown lower. OD green crimson trace grips are already on it so it should contrast nicely. He carrys it IWB in a holster that retained moisture so there is first going to be rust removal. Should be shooting it in a few weeks and I'll try to take some before and during the process. It will be a complete takedown of the 1911. Going to contrast the hammer to the slide and the screws to the grips. Not sure about the slide release yet. Prob shoot it in OD green.

You know at first I laughed about the idea but I think I might just try it and even do a cammo design on one of the ones I'm restoring. With duracoats ability to prevent/resist rust It might just work out. I'll have to sort through them to find the right candidate. Scuff up the blade with steel wool so it has something to hold on to.

Well I will decide the victim of this horrible crime this week end and shoot it soon so stay tuned. If it works out You can send the blade to me and violla!! LOL My new buisiness venture, duracoat SR!!!!!
Seriously though I'm trying to figure out what patteren would work on such a small area... Mabe tiny digi cam or multicam.... I do have some ACU digi cam G10. Hmmmmmmmm

The number of colors available is intriguing. I assume duracoat is something one would generally use on firearms one is more or less wedded to rather than firearms they'd contemplate selling in the future? I'm just wondering if duracoated firearms have a lower resale value?
