Potentiometer installed, tool rest completed today & the external run & kill switches are half sorted ready.

Yeah but.... The hp that the motor can deliver without overheating is directly linear with the speed, probably a little worse than that since the motor is fan cooled by a fan that runs at motor speed. So if your motor is rated at 2 hp at 50hz, it would be 1 hp at 25hz. For a given load, the motor will run cooler when at higher rpms for the same hp load. (lower torque)
That said, the load on my motor seems very low at low belt speeds so you may be just fine as is.
