Post anvils ...
It has been a good day .
I picked up 5 post anvil stands today from John Adams at Rochester Welding. John is the owner of Tunnel Mill and has many blacksmithing events each year. I then took the anvil steels and stands to Ron Hrstka home and proce
ed to try my hand at surface hardening the steel with my oxy, act torch. Tomorrow I will test them and see if I have to change anything. The base are old farm tractor wheel weights, John fabricated the tube and bolted it to the wheel weight. Nice and heavy. Here is a pic of the post anvil stands.

He has a truck but he will need a much larger one. That is a lot of steel.

I would round those edges a little more & on one edge make a large radius round over. What thickness that square tubeings walls? It might be a good idea to put sand in the tube to help take the shock. You don't want the anvil portion moving in the stand you lose a lot of energy when it is not solid. What ever you chose to do I am sure it will work for you.

Yup, still to be done is grinding 2 radius on the narrow sides , a 1/4" and a 1/2". Originally Posted by Slawman
