Very nice. Beautiful razor. You should be proud. Great job of documenting the process, great thread.

Oh yeah thanks for the hovercraft pics.
Excellent job.
Been lurking for a while here.
Congrats and can't wait to see more.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I got a 2x42 grinder for Christmas, so I'm just waiting on my gator belts to show up and you will all be seeing more of me!
You naughty boy...you peeked!
Finally sent this to Glen to be honed. Yeah, that only took 4 months! Now the loooooonnnnngggg (it will feel long no matter how long it really is) wait to get it back and see if I made a razor or a RSO.
In other news, I sold my bike, so am getting a Grinder in a Box with an 8" and 2" contact wheel. No reason to make one now. Hopefully I can get some of these razor blanks started soon!

Great job Brian! Hope that you have time to start the Mountain Man blade. Rendezvous will be here before ya know it!
Well, my grinder parts are coming, slowly but surely. I don't know if I'll be able to do a hollow ground razor this year or not. I'd say I would do a wedge, but I have to figure out if I can even pull one of correctly. Read on.
My razor failed the magic marker test with Glen. The grind is too shallow. I will have to decide what to do with it when I get it back. My new grinder is going to have a VFD to control the speed, so I think if decide to do anything I will wait until it's built rather than ruin the heat treat using my 2x42. That thing is FAST.
To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I guess I need to get back on the horse, figure out what went wrong, and try again. It just sucks, you know?
Sorry to hear that your blade wasn't quite right. I agree, get back on that horse and have another go.
You could use a pulley system instead of a VFD. You still get several speeds, just choose you pulleys right and you could get your self a reasonable range. Much cheaper option if $$$ are an issue.

Yep i know. My first four were failures. Some guys have the aptitude and get it first go. Some of us have to work a lot harder. Just do what i doand tell yourself the more work it takes to get there the more satisfaction you get when you succeed. Plus you learn the hrad way so you usually do not make the same mistakes twice.
Never give up. If you refuse to quit and keep learning you will get there and have better
Stories to tell.
All the best.
