    Default 35 pounds of steel

Mostly 1/4" and one piece of 1/2" all for $10 at the scrapyard. Going to build a nice platen. Figured as long as I was there I would pick up some extra..

Looks good, I love going to the scrap yard it is just like visiting a candy store, so many possibilities. I have had flat platens made of various things, mild steel, hard high carbon steel, and glass. I really like the glass surface for the platen. I bought the glass from USA knife maker. I have the glass JB welded/epoxied to flat surface, so foar it is the cats meow.

I am just tossing out an idea. Thank you for the build pics.

That sounds like a great idea Charlie. Ill have to give it a try... So far this is what I've done for the platen build. Gotta order some wheels now.

Not me, I will put in on my list, next time I place an order form someplace that sells it.

Just won two 2x2 wheels on eBay and a new 3x2 domed tracking wheel. Will be able to finish the platen next week sometime...
