Default First attempt at making a razor (Work in Progress)

This is O1 steel that hopefully will end up as about a 7/8, or close to it, razor. I forgot to take picture of cutting it out but I did it by marking the outline on the steel and the drilled around it one hole right next to the other. From there I cut it out with a hacksaw and then ground the edges on a grinder. Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for looking,
    Marc

I'm afraid I can't give you any advice on actually making the thing, but I will say that I *love* its shape!

Can't wait to see it finished.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I had time this past semester in my ethics class to doodle a lot on the edges of my notes. I got a 4.0 in the class and a few more ideas for razors.

Pretty cool. Are you going to grind it? Or you going for a wedge?

I am aiming for quarter hollow to near wedge. I am using a six inch wheel so, if I rememeber what I read from a post that I cannot find now, I should be right about there

O1 work hardens to a certain degree, so be sure to cool it a lot when grinding. Otherwise it is going to take longer than necessary.

Work is going to be almost nonexistent on this for a bit. I just bought my first shave den and got a house with it. Almost done scrubbing everything and then the fun part of moving in and setting up the nursery begins!

Congrats! Nice project. I'm almost at the same point on my first try from O1 bar stock. Mine is a similar shape except an Irish (slightly rounded) point, and the other side of the cutaway made a neat cleaver-looking blank. I am working on both. My hollowing isn't as pretty, but I still have more work to do. I'm trying to decide how far to go before heat treating, and how to tackle that beast. Have been thinking bbq + pencil torch but I guess I could send them out to someone. Fun project! And nice lines!
