Here is the backstory. I am helping a friend pick out a shaving soap/cream for her boyfriend. I sent her a link to an online vendor that has good prices and a great reputation. Knowing she has a soft spot for things British I pointed out the association certain products have with historical people: Blenheim Boquet and Churchill, Trumper's Astor cologne with Lord Astor, D.R. Harris Windsor with the royals.

I started wondering, however, about historical accuracy and product naming. How much is true and how much is marketing? Does anyone have any good stories about name association and shaving products? Are current products the same formula as when Churchill (or other namesake) used them?

Thanks for any replies!
